Animals are not called in nor baited, so no species can be guaranteed. Also, no sensitive information that could put a species in danger will be given. Itinerary of our wildlife tour in Portugal

Meeting place : Lisbon airport
DAY 1
With its gentle hills with thousands of olive trees and cork oaks, the splendid Alentejo region is known for its ornithological richness, but also for the quality of its gastronomy and its wines.
After meeting you in Lisbon, we will either :
go birding in the Tagus Estuary, one of the best ornithological sites in Portugal for the incredible diversity of species that can be found there, in all seasons. . We will spend the whole day in the area, exploring 2 or even 3 areas of the estuary.
or go straight to the plains of Castro Verde.
Choice will be made depending or the season and the latest sightings.
⌂ Night in Alcochete or Mertola
DAY 2
For this second day, head for the arid plains of Castro Verde then the wooded region of Mertola, the two key sites for ornithology in Alentejo.
The Castro Verde region is home to the largest population of Great Bustards in the country. Also called Great Bustard, it is a mythical bird! One of the largest birds in the world capable of flight. We will also look for the little bustard, the calendered lark, or the single-banded sandgrouse.
The second part of the day will be dedicated to birding in Mertola. The environment being very different, the species of birds that we will be able to see will also be very different. The area is famous for species living in rocky and forested environments, and in particular birds of prey.

DAY 3
The last day of our birding trip to Alentejo will allow us to spend the start of the day in Mertola, then pass through the Castro Verde region on the way back.
We will focus in particular on the species that we would not have had the chance to observe the day before, and will make several stops to explore other good ornithological corners of the region.
Our tour will end in the middle of the afternoon.
