As always during our wildlife tours, the highest ethics will apply. Respecting and protecting our wild subjects is always the first priority. Animals are not called in nor baited, so no species can be guaranteed. Also, no sensitive information that could put a species in danger will be given. Itinerary of our wildlife tour in Portugal
Meeting place : Tavira, Faro or Lagos
Meeting in the morning, we will guide you to several of the best birding hotspots in Algarve. Depending on the season and our starting point, we will choose wisely the birding places we will explore together in order to provide you the most memorable experience possible. Around mid day, we will stop in a local restaurant for lunch. This birding tour in Algarve will last approximately 8 hours, giving us plenty of time to enjoy many great sightings of the local birds, both looking for resident species and migratory or wintering birds if in season. It is an easy and comfortable birding tour, accessible to anyone.

The weather wasn’t the best, but despite that as a result of Miguels remarkable knowledge and skill we saw a huge number of species that we simply would not have done had we been birding on our own. My particular favourites were the Marsh Harriers and Booted Eagles
Local knowledge is all, who for example would have thought to look for Iberian green Woodpecker at a football stadium? Miguel did and found them! A local pond produced Red Crested Pochard, Purple Swamp Hen, Sardinian Warbler and Audouin’s gull amongst others. In total we racked up over 80 species during the day.
Miguel wasn’t just a very experienced and knowledgeable bird guide, he was a very personable person, easy to get along with and an excellent communicator.
This was our first time in the Algarve, should we return there is no doubt that we will be back in contact with Salva Fauna to arrange another day of brilliant birding.”
